There were workshops in the fours locations of the project: Budapest, Madrid, Nottingham and Paris offering a chance to take part in the different phases of the project:
Ideas bank: collecting ideas that matter: what do you want to change in society?
Initiation to artivism: who are the artivists? What social political problems did they deal with and how? Make your own artivist campaign! Use art to point to an issue that bothers you, something you want to change.
What we did in Paris?
We did many/diverse activities, here is a brief description about the activities that we did according to the timeline:
The pre-festival of Grand-Voisins period's

The artistic decorations workshop
The Serious talk sessions
The ideas-extracting workshops
1.The ABCD session: it took a place pm the 30 of April, it was about expressing the most important issues according the participants using the random letters of the Alphabet.
2.The stereotypes and prejudice session: it was a walk-through educational workshop for better understanding about how it “stereotypes and prejudice” works
3.The ABCD session version²: we found that the first version was fine, that’s why we applied the same concept but in different form/method and enhanced activites.
The Initiation workshops
Photography's workshop
Sculpture's workshop
then we used all the material around us and integrated it in the product, for example, some used some pieces of wood, others used some leafs of tree and some used some pieces of cartoon papers!
We also had “normal material” and tools.
with the professional guide of the Artist the participants did nice artworks.
Theatre's workshop
For example, one of the exercise was to walk on the room and adopt, individually, a recognizable way of walking When everyone had found there walk, the moderator says a name, and everyone had to follow the person who was called, and adopt his/her way of walking, then came back to there own walk,
Later during this afternoon, the focus was made on exercises involving the body and the consciousness of it. We proposed different theatrical activities having as common the creation of « human statues ».
Step by step, the exercices focused more and more towards the « abecedaire » themes, and to our final goal : how to connect theatre with artivism. Some final statues where, for exemple, the « illustration » of gathering, loneliness, anonymity… Then we discussed about the different productions of this second phase of the workshop.
Finally, the last part of the session was dedicated to the cration of small scenes around the words of the alphabet primer. We let the first group choose their theme between « work » or « anonymity » ; and the second between « gathering » or « community ».
The instruction was to create a small scene started with this idea of « gathering » or « anonymity ». The only request was to not Finnish the scene, because the other group will have to find an end and reproduce the entire scene, from A (reproducing the same beginning) to Z.
Collage's workshop
The artist began the session by asking the participants to chose the collage mission, there was a jar that contains folded pieces of paper with different numbers and another jar with folded pieces of paper inside, with different human’s body parties written in. then the participants picked two pieces of paper “or more”, one from each jar, for example: 3 eyes and 2 mouths,,, ect ,then each participants did the cut and paste to create those shapes!
Then the collage artist asked the participants to try to transmit an idea with rules-free of using any photos in all the magazine.
Finally we pinned all the products of the participants on the wall and everyone explained his/her work to the others.
Affiche engagée's workshop
then, they have been asked to write a text about a word of the abecedarium
Artivist campaigns
The Campaign
- Gathering point and getting to know each-other
- Short-film’s station: we screened the short-film that developed by text that written by the residents and also starred by them
- The “maison des medecins” Station: The theme African dominated this place, we exposed some testimonies of some of the residents then we performed a traditional African tale on the secret of happiness, which ended with African drum session and dance!
- Ending party with invited DJ
The magazine: Face cachée
So we invited the world to come on the 27th of October to participate in the journey of discovering the thoughts of some residents of GrandVoisins!
The magazine has been co-produced by the residents of GV and team artivism
The events for the youth workers
We searched for an event that could gather the maximum actors who are working with the youngster, We found the event “Culture au quais” is quite compatible with what we are looking for because it’s an annual event that takes place on the side of the seine river after the end of the period of holidays, offering the opportunity to discover the cultural season in friendly atmosphere!
We had two main paths to go through for this event:
The theories sharing path
We had our stand during the 3 days, a window for the interaction with the world to show the summary result of the many months of work
The practices applying path
“Eyes need to see, hands need to touch and mouth needs to taste to feel the experience”
We had 3 workshops where we applied some art forms as dynamic tools for the political expression (Workshop of Linocut Workshop, workshop of creation brochures politique and a session movement and interaction)

3The Serious talk sessions
We organized several workshops with the residents* of Les Grands Voisins*, we used different types of methods in order to avoid repeating ourselves and to have another shapes of results. The ideas-extracting workshops
We organized 3 sessions with solid program:1.The ABCD session: it took a place pm the 30 of April, it was about expressing the most important issues according the participants using the random letters of the Alphabet.
2.The stereotypes and prejudice session: it was a walk-through educational workshop for better understanding about how it “stereotypes and prejudice” works
3.The ABCD session version²: we found that the first version was fine, that’s why we applied the same concept but in different form/method and enhanced activites.
4The Initiation workshops
We had different artistical types of workshop during the initiation period, we wanted to let the participants taste different types of art’s forms for being sure about the artistical frame that they would use to express themselves during the campaign.Photography's workshop
First, we selected terms that came out during debriefing with participants (such as “community”, “anonymous”, “pride”, “work”, etc.). Then, the aim was to take pictures in Les Grands Voisins in order to make a small documentary based on one of the terms that inspired us the most. The photos will be developed and shown in the amphitheatre on 30 June. Simultaneously, there was also a self-portraits workshop, with a stand-up camera and a remote control allowing us to take photos ourselves.Sculpture's workshop
The sculpture artist explained to the participants the characteristics required in any artistical product about the African culture; the colors and the shapes, the colors should be very vibrant, with strong tune and the shapes are simple, and came from African natural.
then we used all the material around us and integrated it in the product, for example, some used some pieces of wood, others used some leafs of tree and some used some pieces of cartoon papers!
We also had “normal material” and tools.

What we did in Madrid?
Discussion on gender
One of the main problems highlighted as a result of urban overruns was the question of how women feel in public spaces and what problems they often face. To debate all these issues, we invited in April, 2017, Ignacio Moreno Segarra. One of the aspects discussed was, women in politicsThe Artivism Project visits the Forum of Urban Violence in Madrid (19-20 April, 2017)
Our young people were invited by the Madrid City Council to take part in the workshops and talks of the forum on urban violence. In the event they were able to hear and see experiences of intervention in the public space of countries like Colombia, Uruguay, India, Guatemala, etc.Athens conference of the ESE, 29.08-01.09.2017: ( (Un)Making Europe: Capitalism, Solidarities, Subjectivities
The UCM team presented a paper on the mayor sociological event, the Conference of the European Sociological Association. We talked about artivism through theatre. It was a good possibility to attract the attention of our partners from Russia, Greece and other countries to our project. -

What did we do?
We realized several activities within the frame of the project.
We started the process with collecting opinions, asking young people in Budapest what they think are the 3 most severe problems in the country.A City Game conducted in the public spaces of Budapest was used as a frame for this process, with 5 stations each tackling different social questions, such as migration, homelessness and poverty, education, freedom of speech and corruption.City Game promo video
At the first two meetings we got to know each other and our different opinions about social issues. In smaller groups the participants created problem maps. They each chose the first 10 most important questions and discussed the connections between different phenomena, such as problems in the education, homelessness, apathy, etc. and visualizing them as well. The second technique the group had the chance to experiment with was the creation of the fanzine. Half of the group edited a common zine and also learnt the technique of mini fanzine.
